The genesis of Drawsome Studio.
IT ALL STARTS IN 2015...
Kevin Tran is 23 years old and bored in engineering school. Alongside his studies, he runs a humor YouTube channel, whose sketches are very successful. Followed by more than 2 million people, Kevin receives an email in June from Michel Lafon, a publishing house, asking if he's interested in writing a book. A bit young to publish an autobiography, Kevin replies that he wants to create a manga, his dream since childhood. Michel Lafon accepts, and this is the beginning of a wonderful adventure.
In the summer, while Kevin is actively looking for an illustrator, Fanny Antigny, who follows Kevin's online sketches, decides to send him fan art inspired by his videos. Kevin opens the email... and his jaw drops! It's beautiful... and exactly the style he wants! He immediately asks Fanny for her number and calls her...
"HI, I'M WRITING A MANGA, UH... DO YOU WANT TO DRAW IT?"
Fanny surprised by Kevin's proposal, asked if it was a joke, and once the idea was clear, she accepts.
THE BIRTH OF DRAWSOME STUDIO
Originally, it was just a house shaped like an onigiri (Japanese rice cake) drawn in volume 2 of Ki & Hi, meant to represent the studio where Kevin and Fanny create their manga. In 2019, after 1.2 million copies sold and the publication of 4 volumes out of 6, Ki & Hi is the best-selling of all time. Kevin then wants to think bigger: "Ki & Hi must become an animated series!". But before that, we'll need to acquire know-how...
THE ANIMATED ADVENTURE!
Between 2021 and 2023, Drawsome Studio self-produces 15 animated films on YouTube with talented artists, including the series "Love at First Flight" (6 million views) and "Bros" (15 million views), very popular with the public. In addition to the format, his next major project... "Ki & Hi in the Panda Kingdom"! This is the first animated adaptation of Kevin and Fanny's manga, aimed at children aged 6 to 10.
THIS FRANCO-BELGIAN COPRODUCTION BETWEEN DRAWSOME STUDIO, MEDIAWAN KIDS & FAMILY AND BELVISION WILL SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY AT THE START OF THE 2025 SCHOOL YEAR ON CANAL + KIDS IN FRANCE, AND WILL BE DISTRIBUTED IN MORE THAN 20 COUNTRIES UPON RELEASE. IT'S A DREAM AND A CONSECRATION FOR THE MANGA BORN 10 YEARS AGO!
Today, Drawsome Studio continues its rise in the world of animation. Made up of a strong core of trust that has expanded to more than 20 artists, including author illustrators, directors and musicians: the studio also benefits from leading partners such as the digital agency Bump, the publishing house Michel Lafon, or the Belgian animation studio Break The Grid.
Currently in production, the studio's fifth animated series will be released in September 2026 on YouTube. Two other series are also in development, three new mangas are being written, as well as a collection of books and comics for children, inspired by Asian culture. If the illustration and animation sectors have had their ups and downs in recent years, one thing is certain at Drawsome Studio: the future is bright.
